Palm Springs, California
Apparently this town was in a movie? Can’t quite put our finger on it, but we think it had something to do with Florence Pugh living an idyllic 50s housewife life. Anywho… the desert town of Palm Springs may have seen a rise in cross country tourists after the pandemic , stag parties and bachelorettes, and a quest for nostalgia, but the dedication to historic preservation is the real secret ingredient to this tiny town’s charm. Florence, thanks for bringing out the charm of 1950s California.
GRÉ RECORDS + COFFEE
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA | C.2016
Gré Records and Coffee is a record store that has coffee. This women-owned business was started in 2016 by best friends Kelly Segre & Jamie, who loved the days of spinning records and hanging out at the local coffee shop. They decided to have the best of both worlds. It is in the Henry Frank Arcade across the street from the Hyatt Hotel Palm Springs.
Gré has transformed into a music lover’s paradise, offering a great selection of used records and books, art, performances, and coffee. With over 4,000 used records in stock, they are definitely more of a record store, although they sell coffee daily.
Open since 2016 , Gré is a women owned record store with coffee located in Downtown Palm Springs. Currently has the largest selection of used records in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS BOTTLE SHOP
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA | C.2021
Palm Springs Bottle Shop story began during the pandemic. Chris and David had relocated to Palm Springs from San Francisco and met up with friends Gillian and Sierra. While having drinks, they all started to lament over the lack of interesting wine/liquor shops in town, as well as the lack of access to LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and women small business owners. This is a larger issue that goes beyond Palm Springs.
Over the next few months, Palm Springs Bottle Shop began to explore options and developed the idea of a shop that featured those products.
In the spring of 2021, Palm Springs Bottle Shop were offered a space inside of a new retail experience, a modern department store called Mojave Flea Trading Post in downtown Palm Springs.
Palm Springs Bottle Shop currently have two locations in Palm Springs, one with a beer and wine tasting room. They carry more than 100 Farm2Me makers which they’ve found through other wholesale marketplaces over the years, have hosted events and partnered with Palm Springs Pride, the Palm Springs Art Museum, Desert X, GED Magazine, Brothers of the Desert, and many more. Check them out! Support them and hope they grow to be able to carry more makers.
In December 2023, Palm Springs Bottle Shop launched Low Dez Fest, a beer, wine, art, and music festival highlighting LGBTQ+, women, and BIPOC makers and creators. Hopefully we can work on events with them in the future, so keep a look out!
